Celebrating International Women in Engineering Day 2024
Thank You to SheCanEngineer
We are honoured to be part of this event, celebrating International Women in Engineering Day 2024. Whether you are a sponsor like us, an engineering institution, organisation, professional, or a charity collaborator, we all share a common purpose: to positively influence gender parity within our sector.
Introducing Our New Initiative
As part of our ongoing commitment to increasing female representation, we are proud to introduce a new initiative under the She's An Engineer programme. We aim to sponsor a student each year into an apprenticeship or placement within an organisation. This initiative will create opportunities and open doors for young women who aspire to make their mark in engineering.
Starting with Schools
Our journey begins with schools. We will reach out to educational institutions to identify and support talented female students who show promise in engineering. By doing so, we aim to build a pipeline of skilled female engineers ready to contribute to the industry. Additionally, we will approach colleges to discuss opportunities for including their students in this programme.
How can you get involved?
Although our programme is still in its infancy, we are reaching out to you for professional assistance to help shape what we hope will become a legacy in the industry. There are multiple ways you can help:
1. Advice
If your organisation has similar programmes in place, we are eager to learn from your experiences. Your insights, advice, and best practices will be invaluable in helping us create a more significant impact.
2. Collaboration
If you have considered a similar programme but lacked the resources to implement it, we welcome collaboration. Let's explore and shape a programme that inspires positive change together.
3. Mentorship
Beyond sponsorship, we recognise that having a mentor can make a tremendous difference in a young engineer's career. We call on professionals to consider mentoring a student. Your guidance can help shape the next generation of female engineers, providing them with the support and encouragement they need to succeed.
Our Commitment
Alexander Associates is fully committed to creating positive change for women in engineering. This journey began 2 years ago with the launch of our She's An Engineer programme. Through podcasts and video series, we have had the privilege of interviewing many inspirational women in engineering, sharing their career stories and experiences to inspire and drive change.
Want to find out more before you commit? Send us your details and we'll be in touch to talk you through this initiative in more detail.
