The Principal Structural Engineer will lead and inspire a team of engineers and technicians, working on a diverse range of landmark projects that push the boundaries of design and sustainability. This role offers the opportunity to take a leadership position, ensuring exceptional project delivery, fostering client relationships, and advancing the consultancy's strategic objectives.
The Principal Structural Engineer Will:
- Lead the delivery of complex structural engineering projects, providing innovative, efficient, and sustainable solutions that meet and exceed client expectations.
- Provide strategic guidance to project teams, ensuring alignment with the company's vision and technical standards.
- Review and approve detailed designs, calculations, and reports to ensure compliance with all relevant codes, standards, and best practices.
- Foster the professional development of engineers and technicians through mentoring, training, and knowledge-sharing, maintaining a high-performing team.
- Contribute to business development by identifying opportunities, preparing proposals, and representing the company in client meetings and industry events.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Extensive knowledge of structural design principles and construction methods across multiple materials, including steel, concrete, timber, and masonry.
- Proficient in industry-standard software, with the ability to oversee and review detailed technical outputs.
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng), holding membership with IStructE or ICE, demonstrating a commitment to professional and technical excellence.
- Exceptional leadership and management skills, with the ability to inspire and mentor teams while maintaining high technical standards.
- Proven ability to manage client relationships, including negotiating contracts, setting expectations, and ensuring satisfaction.
