We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Senior Project Manager in the water industry to lead and manage engineering projects in the Middle East. This will be a predominantly remote role with occasional travel to the Middle East required. With a focus on delivering cutting-edge technologies and solutions, this position offers the opportunity to work on high-impact projects in a dynamic and fast-growing region.
This can be either a permanent or long term contract position.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize previous experience, cultural knowledge, and business contacts to explore new opportunities for water treatment technologies in the Middle East.
- Understand the client’s requirements and align them with the company’s proposed solutions for various projects.
- Direct engineering teams in the production of project deliverables such as designs, calculations, specifications, proposals, and drawings, ensuring compliance with quality procedures and contract documents.
- Oversee time management for yourself and your team, ensuring efficient allocation of resources to meet project targets.
- Direct, review, and monitor the production, tracking, and reporting of project schedules and progress.
- Foster and maintain strong relationships with clients through meetings, correspondence, and various communication channels.
- Manage the site team to deliver the scope of work within budget and according to the project schedule.
- Oversee subcontractors and suppliers, ensuring scope of work is defined, orders are authorized, invoices are approved, and performance is monitored.
- Provide regular updates to senior management regarding project progress, risks, and status in relation to budget and timeline.
- Manage the mechanical engineering scope of work for projects and proposals, ensuring accurate documentation, specifications, and reports are in place.
- Supervise the production of design drawings, ensuring their accuracy and completeness.
- Coordinate the purchase of equipment and materials, reviewing quotations for technical compliance and fitness for purpose.
- Attend site meetings and inspections to ensure the work meets the required standards.
- Document and address any deviations or variations from the original project scope.
- Lead the commissioning and plant integration process, coordinating subcontractors, drafting method statements, and supervising work on-site.
Key Skills and Experience:
- Extensive experience in the water industry, with a proven track record in project management.
- Strong leadership skills, with the ability to manage and motivate a team of engineers.
- Demonstrated financial management expertise and experience in budgeting and cost control.
- Experience in planning and programming, with the ability to deliver complex projects on time and within budget.
- Deep understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including the preparation of schedules, data sheets, and specifications.
- Proven ability to manage subcontractors, suppliers, and client relationships effectively.
- Experience with commissioning, plant integration, and site supervision.
- Strong understanding of quality assurance processes and technical compliance.
Qualifications and Skills:
- A degree in an engineering discipline (mechanical, electrical, environmental, or similar).
- Membership in accredited professional organizations is a bonus.
- Additional management or leadership training would be an advantage.
- Experience working in the Middle East or other international markets is highly desirable.
