We are currently working with a leading company in the water utilities sector who are looking to recruit a Senior Civil Engineer to join their expanding team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering civil design solutions for water and wastewater projects, working within a multi-disciplinary team across the full project lifecycle.

The role will involve leading projects, managing work packages, and overseeing the civil design for both infrastructure and non-infrastructure works. You will be responsible for supervising junior engineers, ensuring designs meet all technical specifications, and helping deliver projects on time and within budget.

Key Details of the Role:

  • Position: Senior Civil Engineer – Water Utilities
  • Location: Hybrid, ideally based in or around Durham, with flexibility to work remotely or from other regional offices across the UK.
  • Primary Focus: Supporting an expanding framework with Northumbrian Water Group, with opportunities to work on a variety of projects across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the design and delivery of water and wastewater infrastructure projects, from feasibility through to detailed design and commissioning.
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Produce and review design concepts, calculations, drawings, and technical documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation and monitoring of project budgets and resource management.
  • Prepare feasibility studies, technical assessments, and other written reports.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety standards and all relevant regulations.
  • Collaborate with the wider team to ensure project success.

The Ideal Candidate:

  • A degree in civil engineering (or equivalent) with professional qualifications (preferred but not essential).
  • Strong experience in the design of water and wastewater infrastructure, with both infrastructure and non-infrastructure project experience.
  • Proficient in MS Office, and ideally familiar with engineering software such as AutoCAD.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to produce clear, concise reports and interact with clients and team members.
  • Proven ability to lead projects and manage budgets effectively.
  • A client-focused approach with a commitment to health and safety and continuous improvement.

This is a permanent role, offering an opportunity to work on exciting, high-profile projects in the water utilities sector.

Only those with proof of right to work in the UK should apply for this role.
