Quantity Surveyor – Water AMP8
Location: Bournemouth, UK
Employment Type: Contract
We are seeking a skilled Quantity Surveyor to support a leading contractor in the water sector. You will provide commercial and cost‑management expertise across project delivery, ensuring strong contract compliance and value for money within an NEC‑driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare, manage, and monitor project budgets and cost plans.
- Produce detailed bills of quantities (BOQs), cost estimates, and tender documentation.
- Track project expenditure and provide regular cost reports to senior management (excluding forecasting duties).
- Analyse cost variances and recommend corrective actions where necessary.
- Manage the tendering process, including preparing tender documents and evaluating contractor submissions.
- Conduct cost negotiations with suppliers, subcontractors, and contractors.
- Assist in selecting contractors and preparing contractual agreements.
- Administer NEC contracts across the project lifecycle, ensuring full compliance with contract conditions and procedures.
- Prepare valuations, progress claims, and payment applications.
- Manage change control processes and produce accurate compensation events and final accounts.
- Support project managers and site teams with cost and commercial insights.
- Attend site meetings and liaise with clients, consultants, and contractors.
- Provide advice on procurement strategies, project risks, and commercial considerations.
- Maintain accurate project records, cost schedules, and documentation.
- Produce financial reports and ensure compliance with company policies, industry standards, and legal requirements.
Skills & Experience Required
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Professional membership (RICS or working toward Chartership) preferred.
- Experience within the UK construction or utilities sectors; water-sector experience advantageous.
- Strong expertise in NEC contract administration.
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
- Strong communication and negotiation abilities.
- Proficient in MS Office; experience with cost‑management software is an advantage.
- Full UK driving licence preferred.
